Today, we celebrate the remarkable journey of one of our erudite Hon. Commissioners, Chief Olatunde Olusegun Odanye — a man whose life has been defined by excellence, service, and unwavering devotion to justice and humanity.
From his formative years at St. Catherine’s Model School and Methodist Boys’ High School, through his law degree at the University of Ife and his call to the Nigerian Bar in 1978, Chief Odanye has consistently demonstrated brilliance and dedication. Over a career spanning four decades, he built a formidable reputation in Banking and Finance Law, Corporate and Commercial Law, Oil and Gas, Real Estate, Maritime, and Civil Litigation, earning respect locally and internationally.
Beyond the courtroom, his contributions to public service and judicial reform have been profound. As a member of Governor Bola Tinubu’s Lagos State Transition Committee, he worked alongside eminent colleagues to help lay the foundation for one of Nigeria’s most progressive justice systems. His service on governing councils, judicial panels, and statutory committees reflects a deep commitment to fairness, equity, and societal advancement. In recognition of his expertise and integrity, the Federal Government appointed him as Honourable Commissioner at the Tax Appeal Tribunal in 2025, a testament to his enduring relevance and impact.
Chief Odanye is also a distinguished community leader and philanthropist. Conferred with the title Akinrogun of Ijesaland for his contributions to community development, he continues to uplift lives through the Akinrogun Tunde Odanye Foundation. His leadership in Lions Clubs International and active membership in the Lagos Metropolitan Club and Lagos Polo Club further reflect his multifaceted influence.
As he retires from the Tax Appeal Tribunal on 3rd July 2026, we honour not only his professional legacy but also his devotion to family and nation-building. Happily married to Omobola Adebisi Odanye, and blessed with four children and three grandchildren, Chief Odanye embodies integrity, leadership, and compassion.
Chief, retirement is not an end but a new beginning. May this next chapter bring you joy, fulfillment, and continued opportunities to serve humanity. We salute your illustrious career and celebrate a life devoted to law, justice, and community.
Congratulations on a truly well-deserved retirement.
